Making History with Testing

Leveraging automated tests and “Time Travel” to help with manual testing.

At Ontario Systems, we have begun using a tool that performs tests “over time”. Not only does this tool perform automated tests, but also creates historical data to support manual testing. It takes about 5 minutes to perform a “years’ worth of testing” with the resulting data being usable as a starting point for manual testing. The “Time Travel” component is essential not only for end-to-end scenarios, but also for testing features that require activity to have happened in the past like testing how overdue payments are handled.
